Alpha Mohamed Sesay is a Research and Teaching Assistant at Koinadugu College
and a proud Families Without Borders alumnus, with a strong passion for
environmental sustainability and youth empowerment.
Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping the mindset of more than 2,000 young people, inspiring them to become active environmental ambassadors in their communities.
He is the founder of a youth-led environmental organization that runs an active nature club in one of the largest schools in Koinadugu District. Through hands-on initiatives and community engagement, Alpha has contributed to planting over 500 trees across two districts in Sierra Leone, while also leading street-level awareness campaigns on climate change and other pressing environmental issues.
As an aspiring environmentalist, Alpha has actively participated in several high-level stakeholder engagements, including consultations on the development of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) and the review of Sierra Leone’s Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency of Sierra Leone. He has also contributed to discussions on protecting wildlife and biodiversity through engagements led by the Conservation Society for Sierra Leone, where he further extended his advocacy through radio discussions.
Driven by a deep commitment to environmental protection, Alpha continues to work at the intersection of education, community action, and policy engagement to create lasting impact.
