International Day of the Girl Child 2026
Celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child with SLMB Secondary School, Mile 91!

I am excited and proud to have been part of Families Without Borders’ celebration of the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child at SLMB Secondary School, Mile 91! It was inspiring to see students come together to learn about personal hygiene, self-respect, girls’ rights, and the importance of promoting gender equality.
One of the highlights was teaching girls how to make reusable sanitary pads, equipping them with practical skills and knowledge to manage their menstrual health with greater confidence and dignity. I was equally excited to see boys participate in discussions about menstrual health, respect, and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.
It reminded me that empowering girls is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s involvement. This experience reinforced my belief that education, practical skills, and community support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls.
I am grateful to Families Without Borders, SLMB Secondary School, the students, and everyone who helped make this initiative a success. When we empower girls, we strengthen communities and build a brighter future for all!
